(November 2007 at Disneyland…heehee, AJ was so bald!)
I’m a mom to two little monkey girls living in scenic SoCal. I may ramble on about moving somewhere with a yard and more wildlife on occasion, but I am at heart an urban girl who will cry when we have to leave our awesome, tiny, WWII-era apartment. We are currently building a huge container garden on our patio (in violation of our lease, it turns out) and we’re close enough to the mountains that we can hike any time we choose. I enjoy living in a pedestrian sort of culture (not in the prosaic sense, although I suppose it may seem that way to my readers), and the girls and I can be spotted walking all over our city. We are a slave to our Farmers’ Market and try to live as “green” as possible. Not always successfully, but we try.
I am also interested in red wines & Guinness, good books, babywearing (which means I nurse a minor shopping addiction when it comes to baby carriers), Britcoms, and crafting. I love to travel and have had the good fortune of visiting and/or living all over Europe. Someday I will be into designing and decorating my own house, so I will probably post some ideas here from time to time.
My family and I eat according to the principles of Weston Price/Nourishing Traditions, so you’re likely to find pictures of my food adventures and recipes here.

It’s truly amazing how much we have in common, Annie.
I can’t wait to see the container garden. I think I’m going to expand mine this week.
PS: I own all of the Absolutely Fabulous DVDs, and I dressed up as Patsy Stone one year for Halloween — even had the wig made. And carried around a bottle of Stoli (filled with water) and a fake cigarette that really lit up.
Haha, I would love to see pictures of that! I consider Friday nights on PBS the equivalent of a big, cozy blanket. I wrap myself up with Judi Dench & a big mug of tea (with lots of cream, of course!), and all is right with the world. I own a lot of series DVDs, too….Monty Python, BlackAdder, Coupling, and–of course–As Time Goes By. One Brit friend told me that ATGB is for the older crowd, but I’ll hear nothing of it.
I will do a post about the garden tomorrow, I think. I came home from Oregon to find some HUGE plants! My mom and sister watered for me while I was gone, but I think they threw some steroids in there, too.
Hi Annie! Just stopping in to say hello. The girls are so adorable. It’s amazing how much they resemble you when you were that age!! Even Lisa’s kids, they look just like her!
Love your blog! I hope life is treating you well! Happy 30th this month!! Mine is not far away either! Can’t believe it’s 30!
Love, Britt
Hey Britt!
I can’t believe it’s 30 for us, either! And then next year, we’ll have known each other for 30 years!
Thanks for checking out the blog. I will have to pop over to Facebook and see how your wedding plans are going!
Wow, there are a lot of “Ann”’s following Traditional Diets.
May I ask how long have you been following the principles in Nourishing Traditions? I am a new mom (5 month old) hoping to raise a large healthy family. And, to start, I need to be healthy. What kind of health benefits have you noticed since you began this way of life? Is it difficult having little ones? I am hoping to lose this baby weight too.
Hi Annie!
It has been about two years now. I still have my bad days (and foods), but eating TF has become mostly second nature. It is easy, easy to feed the kids this way.
The weight loss….meh, that has always been hard for me, but I have thyroid issues, too. I am a “normal” weight but not back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but that’s my own fault. I need to commit to eating a lot less, especially of the yummy (traditionally prepared) sourdough bread from our local Farmers’ Market!
Re: health benefits, I just had my cholesterol checked and it has dropped over thirty points (it was always just a leeeeetle high, and is now perfectly normal). My skin problems, which I’ve dealt with my entire adult life, are also completely gone when I stick to TF. My teeth are also doing really well; no cavities since I started eating this way, which is amazing for me! The dentist was NOT my friend in the past!
I’m not a perfect TFer by any stretch of the imagination, but I think it’s a fantastic lifestyle and I’m really, really happy with how much of it we have incorporated into our lives.
I just found this you little blogger. It was fun to read about all the stuff I already know about!
